Upcoming Events and Classes
20th June from 10.30am
Beginners and Improvers are welcome to drop by The Potter’s Yard from 10.30am to help make pots for the PIT FIRING which will take place on Saturday 4th July in our field. Those who have some experience are most welcome.
Pit Firing
Saturday 4th July from 10.30am
A pit dug into the ground lined with organic matter and fired with wood will be our kiln. Exciting and unpredictable results will emerge. For all aspiring potters and hobbyists don’t miss this awesome experience.
Saturday 27th June from 10.30am
Making Pots for our Raku Firing. Slow Making – Fast Firing in our homemade Raku kiln.
Raku Firing
Saturday 18th July
We will pack the pots made on the 27th June into the raku kiln and fire them. Raku is an ancient Japanese method of firing bowls traditionally made for the Tea Ceremony.
Watch your pots burn, draw them from the red hot flames and dunk them into organic matter to see the most amazing glaze colours emerge from the process. All of the above is very weather dependent so do contact Patricia beforehand if interested in being involved with either Pit or Raku to check everything is going ahead.
As these Events are not classes per se but Experiments, a small charge of €35 to cover costs will be charged.
Continuing Skills Development (CSD) Course
We pick up again on March 14th with Saturday classes for our Continuing Skills Development (CSD) courses. If you have done our first Taster workshop and preferably our Advanced Taster then you are ready for our CSD course: 6 consecutive weeks covering wheel work, glazing, kilns and firing. An exciting next step into The Potter’s World!
The next scheduled course will take place in Autumn 2026 – dates to be confirmed.
